It’s Paypa Time
My big homie Paypa just started his new website http://www.paypamusic.com/. Hailing from Chicago but reppin’ my hometown Mo Val, he’s on his way to becoming a star in the industry very quickly. He released his mixtape “24 Hours From Greatness” which was hosted by DJ Ill Will and DJ Rockstar last year and I’ve heard some of his unreleased songs, he’s a problem. Combining banging beats with golden age lyricism, 24 Hours From Greatness was one of my favorite mixtapes of last year. F&H^

Grinder Of The Week Part 2: LaVish
Ace
“Whaddup Lav, thank you for your reappearance on Originallity Kills.”
LaVish
“Its all love bro.”
Ace
“Before we start with questions can you give OK supporters a small background who who “Lavish” is?”
LaVish
“Well I got the name from the meaning of lavish, the fancy lifestyle in all, back in the 8th grade. I’m 16 now, and I feel my music is growing and maturing, as well as my buzz.”
Ace
“Your first dropped mixtape was “Cooley High” which got you a huge amount of buzz, then you hit the streets with a promotional tape “Good Enough” which is pumping the people up for your upcoming tape “Hometown Hero” how do you feel about the success & feedback that you have had from the two mixtapes that you have dropped?”
LaVish
“Well its funny you mentioned “Cooley High” because that was my first project from back in early ’08 that I released in the 9th grade. It was a lot of freestyles that I did for fun in the studio afterschool. It did a good number of downloads seeing that I had very little buzz, at the time. From there on out I met more people, wrote more songs and grew as an artist. I started working on “Hometown Hero” in January of 2009, the delay has been because I was hopping from studio to studio through 2009. I had recorded the tape about 3 times, but it wasn’t coming out how I wanted. The first of 2010 I started working with Steve Sincere and came up with 16 solid songs that were “good enough”, (hence the title), and now we’re working on completing “Hometown Hero”.”
Ace
“Is there anything that people have saying that they wish that they had seen on “Good Enough”? Such as features or music videos, etc?”
LaVish
“Well no, as in complaints. A lot of people showed love, and gave me suggestions to what videos they wanted made, we’re going to try “She Loves Me Not”, and I’ll be releasing “Space Age Pimpin Rmx” with Ree$e and Matt Mann, and “Slow Motion” soon.”
Ace
“via twitter (@WhaddupLavish) you said that you were shooting a video for the track “Slow Motion” which was on “Good Enough” how is that coming along and what can we expect once we see it?”
LaVish
“I think it’ll be something laid back, cool, fun LA shit. I don’t wanna say to much about it, but rather allow people to enjoy it once they see it.”
Ace
“For youngins trying to pursue a dream that may be in the music industry or even if the want to be astronaut are there any words of advice that you can give them?”
LaVish
“Always believe. Pursuit, confidence and hunger is key. If you don’t believe in yourself or the product your trying to sell, whether music, clothes, etc, then no one else will. I knew people and friends that I always tried to tell how I was gonna make this music work, some didn’t believe, or care to, but now they see.”
Ace
“Thank you for stopping by brotha we appreciate a whole lot! And we cant wait for “Hometown Hero” to drop!”
LaVish
“off top, bro. its all good”
Shouts!
LaVish
“Shoutout everybody involved with these projects, and that listen to my music, JBC.”
